Well, the story doesn´t end there. We woke up, still on the bus and still not to Arequipa yet. They did feed us a dinner of fried rice the night before and a sandwich which consisted mostly of bread, one piece of meat and cheese. When we finally arrived at Arequipa they let us off the bus for an hour and a half, then we loaded again to trek onward to Juliaca and Puno on Lake Tititaca before heading to Cusco. Nothing really fascinating happened because we were on a bus, but the views were fantastic --- again, I will get pictures up.
On the bus I of course spoke to Natasha and Maya, but we also met a couple from the UK. They told me that they spent time in the United States and then they came to Peru. It was interesting to talk to them.
On one of our last stops a lot of native people got on the bus, which wasn´t a big deal until a half hour later we were stopped by the police and the bus was searched. They found quite a bit of contraban and some of these native people had to get off the bus. It was quite unnerving and to be totally honest scary.
My friends and I got off the bus in Cusco around 10:30pm. The keepers of my hostal were waiting for me and they gave me a free ride to the hostal. They spoke little english and so I had to work on my spanish to communicate with them. I tried to tell them that I had a trek tomorrow (July 8th) for Macchu Pichu and they understood that and we tried to get into contact with the tour operator, but it was late a night. I had received an e-mail from the tour operator saying that they would contact my hostal but they hadn´t. I went to my room and got my stuff ready for the trek and then tried to take a shower (after a 30 hour bus ride you want to get clean), but the shower didn´t work -- there wasn´t any water. I was quite upset, but I went to bed to sleep it off. The hostal owner and I decided to meet at 5am to track down the tour operator, so I needed my sleep.
